Why this exists

After nearly three decades in veterinary medicine, I've learned that good medicine depends on curiosity - not just about what we know, but about how we know it.

I'm a board-certified feline veterinarian - an ABVP Diplomate in Feline Practice with years of clinical experience in general practice and feline medicine. What I do here is straightforward: translate evidence in feline medicine into clear, practical decisions for the veterinarians who see cats every day, with a particular focus on the aging cat.

There is a lot of feline research published, but not much of it arrives in a form you can use on a Tuesday morning. My aim is to close that gap: what a study actually shows, what it doesn't, and what - if anything - should change in your workup. Plainly, and without losing the clinical depth.

My own path shaped how I think about this. I started in Romania, part of the first generation of small-animal veterinarians there. My career then took me to Canada, including hospitals in Calgary and Victoria, where I eventually built and ran my own clinic. Later, I pursued board certification in feline practice - something I had wanted for a long time, and finally did.

That range - years of general practice before specialising in cats - is why I tend to write for the generalist. I remember what it is like to need the answer, not the literature review.
