Why this exists

After nearly three decades in veterinary medicine, I've learned that good medicine depends on curiosity - not just about what we know, but about how we know it.

I'm Levente Dégi, a board-certified feline veterinarian - an ABVP Diplomate in Feline Practice - with years of clinical experience in general practice and feline medicine. I translate the evidence in feline medicine into clear, practical decisions for the veterinarians who see cats every day, with a particular focus on the aging cat.

My own path shaped how I think about this. I started in Romania, part of the first generation of small-animal veterinarians there. My career then took me to Canada, including hospitals in Calgary and Victoria, where I built and ran my own clinic. Later, I pursued board certification in feline practice - something I had wanted for a long time, and eventually did.

That range - years of general practice before specialising in cats - is why I tend to write for the primary care veterinarian. I remember what it is like to need the answer, not the literature review.

Independence

Feline Curious is independently produced. No sponsors, no industry funding.

I also co-founded EUVetCE Experiences, which runs small-group, RACE-approved continuing education in Europe. It is a separate venture. If something from that work is relevant here, I'll say so.
